May 22nd & 23rd Recap

Preschool/Kindergarten

Our series called Come To The Castle continued this weekend. It’s fantastic series where we’ll be telling stories all month about how God is King and He’s got this.

Week Three

Basic Truth: God loves me.

Memory Verse: “He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God.” Deuteronomy 10:17, NLT

Key Question: Who’s got it?

Bottom Line: God’s got it.

Bible Story: God teaches me the way to go.

Gideon at Battle • Judges 7:9-22

In this week’s story, we heard a story about a warrior named Gideon who got some pretty strange instructions from God. Gideon and his men were off to battle when God told him to leave the weapons behind. Instead, Gideon’s men were told to hold torches, blow trumpets, and break clay jars to defeat their enemies. The army was confused as to how this would help them defeat the enemy but Gideon had faith in God’s way. They obeyed and God brought them the victory! We hope that kids learned this weekend that God will teach you the way to go.

We helped kids to remember this story in a couple ways:
We had them make torches like the one Gideon and his men used.
They were challenged to follow overlapping paths on the floor.
They even learned how to tie a shoe so they could see what it’s like to follow the right way…

Try going over this story with your child to remind them that we should count on God to show us the right way and to always remember that God’s got this!

Elementary

This month, our over-arching theme for 6-11 year olds is DETERMINATION in a series we call The Amazing Maze.  We’ve also been saying that determination is deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started.

Our Memory Verse is found in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don’t give up” (NIrV).

Week Three

In Ephesians 6:10-18, we read a portion of a letter Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus. The early church is feeling attacked from all sides, and Paul encourages them by reminding them how the Holy Spirit can help them. We have armor that stand against anything that we might face in this world.

Bottom Line: God gives you what you need to keep going. We pray that through this lesson, kids will realize all they have available to them right now to help them show determination when they feel like giving up.

You can help your child remember to keep going all week with these take home materials:
