Our series called Come To The Castle continued this weekend. It’s fantastic series where we’ll be telling stories all month about how God is King and He’s got this.
Basic Truth: God loves me.
Memory Verse: “He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God.” Deuteronomy 10:17, NLT
Key Question: Who’s got it?
Bottom Line: God’s got it.
Bible Story: God protects me.
Daniel and the Lions: Daniel 6:1-23
In this week’s story, we heard a story about a man named Daniel who loved God very much and prayed to him three times a day. King Darius, the ruler at the time, loved Daniel but the king’s friends did not and decided to talk him into making a rule that the people could no longer pray to God and only to him. The rule also stated that if anyone was to break this rule, they would be thrown into a lions den! Daniel however knew the Lord would protect him and decided to keep praying. King Darius stayed true to his word and threw Daniel into the lions den, but God sent down an angel which calmed the lions and saved Daniel! God protected Daniel much to the astonishment of Darius and his friends. We hope that the kids learned this weekend that as God protected Daniel, he will protect us even when we are afraid.
We helped kids to remember this story in a couple ways:
We called out different animal names like dog, cat, sheep, lion, and cow and had them pretend to be that animal to remember the lions from the story.
We also took small mirrors and markers to draw a lions mane and face on the mirror then have the child look into the mirror to see how they look just like a lion.
Try going over this story with your child to remind them that even when bad things happen, God protects me!

This month, our theme for 6-11 year olds is DETERMINATION in a series we call The Amazing Maze. We’ve also been saying that determination is deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started.
Our Memory Verse is found in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don’t give up” (NIrV).
In Revelations 21:1-5, 21:23-25 and 22:1-5 we read a part of the letters sent by John to the early church when he was exiled on the island of Patmos towards the end of his life. It was there Jesus appeared to him and told him that he was no longer dead but alive! Jesus told him all the things that would happen and what was to come when he returned. God showed him the future and Heaven. God showed him how the story was going to end for all those who believed in him.
Bottom Line: Keep going because God knows the end of the story. We hope that through this message, kids will realize that through their determination to keep going in the knowledge they know God has the answers for us and will guide us through even when it seems like they can’t.
