Week 4 Recap

Our series Kids Rock continues this week, it is a series where kids get to see how children from the Bible did some pretty amazing things.

Week Four

Basic Truth: God made me.

Memory Verse: “God made us to do good works.” Ephesians 2:10, NCV

Key Question: Who can do what God wants you to do?

Bottom Line: I can do what God wants me to do.

Bible Story:  I can do brave things

David and Goliath * 1 Samuel 17:1-50

This time in Israel there was constant rivalry and war with the neighboring nation of Philistine. Unfortunately for the Israelites the Philistines brought a soldier named Goliath who was taller and stronger than any man they had ever seen before. The Bible described him as a giant standing over 9 feet tall! Goliath everyday would march onto the battlefield and challenge the Israelites to fight him, but nobody was brave enough to face him. That was until a voice had shouted out that he will fight Goliath. Everyone in the Israelite camp were shocked to see that it was a young David who was only a young boy wanting to fight Goliath. The soldiers immediately began to plead with him telling him he was too young to fight, but David knew that with God’s help he could accomplish anything. So as David walked out and began to torment him, undeterred he responded “Goliath, you may come at me with all your big weapons, but GOD is with me!”. It was then he charged at David and in response David launched a stone striking Goliath down instantly.

Last week we saw David be given the immense responsibility to be the next king which showed how we can lead others and do great things no matter who or where you have come from. This week he showed us that we can do incredible things we trust God.

Try reviewing this story with your little one to remind them that we don’t have to be worried so long as we remember that I can do brave things

Week 4 Parent Guide

This week we continue our monthly theme of Creativity in a series called Gadgets and Gizmos Uniquely Wired>> Wonderfully made. We have also defined Creativity as imagining what you could do because your made in God’s image.

Our memory verse for this month is found in Psalms 139:14 14 How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful.  I know that very well.”(NIrV)

Week Four

This Week we head to Genesis 3:1-23 and find out what happened when Adam and Eve decided to do what they wanted to do instead of following God’s plan for them. Adam and Eve had one rule: don’t eat fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But the serpent tempts them, and they decided to give into the temptation so they could become like God. And in a moment, everything changed. All that was perfect was now broken. Thankfully, although the consequences for Adam and Eve were severe, God never gave up on having a relationship with His creation.

Bottom Line: God made you to know Him. We know now that God sent Jesus to make a way for us to truly know Him again. We pray that kids will discover that no matter what they’ve done or how far away they feel from God, that Jesus came to make a way for them to be right with God. God made us know Him, and that’s possible because of Jesus.

You can help your child remember this all through the week with these take home materials.
