Week 3 Recap

Preschool/Kindergarten

Our series Kids Rock Part.2 continued this week where we get to move into the Bible for children who did amazing things throughout the Bible.

Week Three

Basic Truth: God made me.

Memory Verse: “God made us to do good works.” Ephesians 2:10, NCV

Key Question: Who can do what God wants you to do?

Bottom Line: I can do what God wants me to do

Bible Story:  I can do what’s right.

Josiah (Young King) 2 Chronicles 34

Josiah began his rule as a king at only 8 years old,  Josiah was different than the kings before him, he did not want money or fame, he just wanted to follow God and did everything God asked him to. The  two kings before Josiah were evil and refused to follow God but Josiah though only a child decided to break that mold and ruled how God wanted him too and as Josiah learned we can to that I can do what’s right.

Try reviewing this story with your little one to remind them that we don’t have to be worried so long as we remember that I can do what’s right. Most of us grew or currently grow up in a world where we are pushed into things or pressured to do things that are wrong and the story of Josiah shows how a child had decided to not continue in a bad path and finally fix an entire nation back towards God. Though many of us won’t be presidents, kings or leaders we can still do what is right in God’s eyes.

You can use this guide to revisit this lesson throughout your week:

Week 3 Parent Guide

Elementary

This month we continue our series Gadgets and Gizmos  but start a theme centered on Uniqueness – discovering who God made you to be so you can make a difference.

Our memory verse for this month is found in Ephesians 2:10 10 We are God’s creation. He created us to belong to Christ Jesus. Now we can do good works. Long ago God prepared these works for us to do.

Week Three

In Acts 8:26-40; we learn more about an encounter between Philip and an official from Ethiopia. As the Ethiopian searched God’s word and had many questions about faith and scripture. Philip pointed him in the right direction, and showed him that Jesus was the answer to those prophesies from long ago.

Bottom Line: God made you to follow Jesus. God wants to have a relationship with us and made a way for that to happen through Jesus. This week, we pray that kids will realize that no matter who they are or what they’ve done that God made them to have a relationship with Him when they believe in Jesus.

Even when we don’t expect it, God can use us for amazing things as God did with Phillip to bring a man to Jesus. As we learned last week God made us for an adventure as God has a great an amazing plan in our lives and even little things can lead to big moments.

You can help your child remember this all through the week with these take home materials.
