Week 2 Recap

Our series Zig Zag Zone continued this week where we learn about how God is with us through the ups and downs through the life of King David!

Week Two

Memory Verse: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid . . . for the Lord your God goes with you.” Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV

Memory Verse: “We have the Lord our God to help us.” 2 Chronicles 32:8, NLT

Key Question: Who can help you?

Bottom Line: God can help me.

Basic Truth: God loves me.

Story: David Is Strong in Battle • 1 Samuel 18:7; 12-14

7As they danced, they sang,
“Saul has killed thousands of men.
David has killed tens of thousands.”
12 The Lord had left Saul and was with David. So Saul was afraid of David. 13 He sent David away. He put him in command of 1,000 men. David led the troops in battle. 14 In everything he did, he was very successful. That’s because the Lord was with him.
wars were fought constantly and Isreal time and time again protected itself thanks to David’s leadership all because he stayed devoted to God and stayed true to his plan. Now we may not be fighting in great wars, but we still have many moments in our lives where we just feel alone and there is nobody able to help us through what we are struggling with. It is here that it is important for us to remember as David did to know that God can help me.

This Week we treat you to the beginning of our new series Use It Or Lose It where we talk on Stewardship – Everything Jesus showed us on how we can take care of God’s stuff by using it the way that points people to God and fulfills the mission God has for our lives.

Week Two

Key Question: How can you best use your time? Kids are just starting to become aware of time. We’ll help kids begin to realize that we only have so much time, so how we use it matters to God. Kids will wrestle through the ways they spend their time now and figure out what needs to change to use their time wisely. Really, this is a question we hope small group leaders and parents ask themselves as they lead their kids. Everyone can benefit by taking a look at how they’re spending the time God has given to them.

With that in mind, we continue looking at stewardship with another Psalm. In Psalm 90:12, Moses writes, Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom, (NIV). Moses knew more than most the importance of time and reminds us that when we take time to think about the time God has given us, we have an opportunity to use it wisely.

Bottom Line: Use your time wisely. We only have so much time while we’re here on earth, but every day God gives us is a chance for us to do something that matters. We can waste our time or use it to do something significant. We pray that kids will make every moment count.
