This week we kicked off our kids November series Recipe for Thanks, where preschoolers are exploring the ingredients for a grateful heart!
Memory Verse: “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.” Psalm 111:1, ESV
Key Question: Who can you thank for everything?
Bottom Line: I can thank God for everything.
Basic Truth: God made me.
Story: I am thankful for God’s commandments.
Ten Commandments • Exodus 20
Each and every one of God’s commandments are all equally important to us we won’t list them all but each one is God’s amazing covenant with us. His number-one commandment he gave to us is that we should love him more than anything because if we love him in all we do then we can walk with him in our faith. Right with it is to love your neighbor as yourself, now loving our next door neighbors is always what we should do but God did not just mean them he meant everyone! For if we love God more than anything and treat all with kindness and respect we can follow every commandment.
Though we are human and we fail many commandments each and every day, God loves us anyway as he sent Jesus to die for those sins so that we can be with God in paradise! Remember this week to know that I am thankful for God’s commandments. and who can we thank for everything? We can thank God for Everything!
This Week we begin our series ReFocus: Know Where to Look
Key Question: What are you grateful for? We kick off a month on gratitude by helping kids to refocus on their own life and discover reasons they can be thankful. We’re so busy with life that we don’t take the time to pause and notice what God has done for us. We hope kids take the time throughout the year to ask themselves this question. Our lives are filled with blessings big and small and it is always important to see each and every one that God has given us.
We start our look at gratitude with Psalm 100 where we read, Shout for joy to the Lord, everyone on earth. Worship the Lord with gladness. Come to Him with songs of joy, (NIrV). God has done so much for us through the gift of Jesus, it’s only fitting that we respond to Him with a heart of gratitude.
Bottom Line: Celebrate what God has done. We hope to give kids and families the opportunity to think about all the ways God has shown them love and faithfulness throughout the year. We want them to be able to get excited and celebrate God’s goodness in their lives!
